Carlisle to Settle

Today we enjoy a journey on the Settle–Carlisle Railway which is celebrated as one of the most scenic train journeys in the UK, offering a 72-mile route through the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines. Passengers are treated to breathtaking views of rolling hills, lush valleys, and historic landmarks, including the iconic 24-arch Ribblehead Viaduct and Dent Station, the highest mainline station in England.

North Lake District

Visit the charming market town of Cockermouth, known for its Georgian architecture and as the birthplace of poet William Wordsworth. Stroll through its quaint streets, explore local shops and cafes, and enjoy the town’s rich history. Then continue to the serene shores of Bassenthwaite Lake, one of the Lake District’s most peaceful spots, perfect for taking in scenic views and spotting local wildlife

Gretna Green

Today we flee to Gretna Green down on the Scottish Border! Once a haven for couples, now an award winning visitor experience - join us as we fall in love with the World’s Greatest Love Story and dive into the history of true love & marriage in the UK’s first immersive attraction dedicated to romance. Later we call into the Devil’s Porridge Museum, this attraction tells the story of HM Factory Gretna, the greatest munitions factory on earth in World War One, where the devil’s porridge (or cordite, an explosive) was mixed.
