This spring and autumn Northumberland trip explores the region’s historic coastline and towns, starting in Berwick-upon-Tweed with its Elizabethan walls, river views and compact old town, before continuing to Seahouses, a lively fishing village with a working harbour. The journey then includes Lindisfarne (Holy Island), reached via tidal causeway and known for its priory ruins and peaceful setting, and Bamburgh, famous for its dramatic castle overlooking a wide sandy beach. Today we head to Berwick-upon-Tweed and Seahouses. We start in Berwick-upon-Tweed, exploring its Elizabethan town walls, river views, and compact historic centre before heading south along the coast. Then continue to Seahouses, a lively fishing village known for its harbour.

Lindisfarne (Holy Island) is a tidal island reached via a causeway at low tide, known for its peaceful village, ancient priory ruins, and historic Christian heritage, while Bamburgh is dominated by its impressive medieval castle set above a vast sandy beach.
