Loch Ness
Enjoy some free time in Inverness before heading out along the scenic shores of Loch Ness, where you'll experience the vast scale and legendary atmosphere of this historic body of water—famous for its mysterious resident. Step aboard a cruise from the Locks of Dochgarroch and glide across the loch, with a chance to capture stunning photos of the iconic Urquhart Castle. Keep your camera ready—who knows what might emerge from the deep waters, which are said to be as profound as the surrounding mountains. After your cruise, relax with a coffee and cake on the lochside, or browse for local sweet treats at the charming An Talla visitor centre.
Kyle Railway Line
Settle in for what Michael Palin describes as “one of the best railway journeys in the world.” Upon arrival in Kyle, your coach will be waiting to take you across the bridge to the enchanting Isle of Skye—an island steeped in mystery and history. Enjoy a light lunch at the Dunollie Hotel in Broadford, before returning via the bridge with a scenic photo stop at the iconic Eilean Donan Castle.
Northern Line
Today we follow the stunning North Sea coastline on this scenic rail journey, passing the fairy-tale towers of Dunrobin Castle and the sandy shores near Brora. Witness the remoteness of northern Scotland as you travel past renowned salmon rivers, historic distilleries, and vast stretches of moorland before meeting your coach in Thurso. Enjoy a guided tour and tasting at the Wolfburn Distillery, followed by a visit to iconic John O’Groats—the northernmost point on mainland Britain. Your return journey by coach takes you past the Castle of Mey, the beloved Scottish retreat of the Queen Mother and still visited by the Royal Family today. We end the day with a stop in Wick, once a thriving fishing hub, before a scenic coastal drive back to the hotel.
