Galway & Connemara

Day 1

Our Irish adventure begins as we travel by coach to the ferry port for our crossing to Ireland. Sit back, relax and enjoy the journey across the Irish Sea before continuing by coach into the heart of Ireland. We make our way to Portlaoise, where we check in at the Midlands Park Hotel. After settling into the hotel, the remainder of the evening is free to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities.

Day 2

After breakfast, we travel to the historic town of Athlone, beautifully situated on the River Shannon. Our visit includes Athlone Castle, where we can discover the fascinating history of this strategically important town and learn about its role throughout Ireland's past. There will also be time to explore Athlone itself, with its riverside setting, historic streets, cafés and shops. Onwards to Galway, where we stay at Flannery’s for the following 3 nights.

Day 3

Today promises to be one of the highlights of our tour as we journey through the spectacular landscapes of Connemara. Our route takes us through rugged mountains, peaceful lakes, stone walls and traditional Irish countryside, offering wonderful opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty of the west of Ireland. Our destination is the magnificent Kylemore Abbey, one of Ireland's most photographed and enchanting landmarks. Set against a dramatic mountain backdrop, the abbey and its beautiful Victorian walled gardens provide a memorable experience. After our visit, we return via the scenic Connemara route, enjoying more of this remarkable landscape along the way.

Day 4

Today is yours to enjoy Galway at your own pace. Flannery's Hotel is conveniently located for exploring the city, with public transport available nearby and Galway's attractions accessible without needing the coach.

Day 5

After breakfast, we depart for another fascinating day of sightseeing. Our first visit is to the Irish National Stud & Japanese Gardens in County Kildare. Discover Ireland's world-famous horse-breeding heritage and explore the tranquil Japanese Gardens, renowned for their beauty and peaceful setting. Continuing our journey, we make a stop in Kilkenny, one of Ireland's most attractive medieval cities with some free time to take up the Medieval city. Enjoy some free time to explore the historic streets, browse the shops or take in the atmosphere of this charming city. We then continue to our hotel, Newtown Park Hotel for our final night in Ireland.

Day 6

After breakfast, we begin our homeward journey, travelling towards the ferry port for our return crossing to Wales.
