Day 1
Following an early morning start, we head up to the Scottish Borders for our overnight stay in Carlisle.
Day 2
This morning to continue our journey from Carlisle and head up through the Scottish Highlands to our base in Fort William.
Day 3
Today we head to Oban, Scotland's "Gateway to the Isles" to catch the crossing to Isle of Mull. Look out for Eilean Musdale Lighthouse and the imposing Duart Castle which will be our first port of call. Enjoy a welcome talk from the head guide on the property's history and free time to soak up the beauty of the castle rooms followed by tea and scones. Afterwards head to the island's capital Tobermoray well known for its colourful houses and shop fronts.
Day 4
Today we have some free in Fort William before a short tour explores the Fort William area. Watch boats navigating the eight locks of Neptunes Staircase in Banavie, then to Spean Bridge taking in the best views of Ben Nevis. We complete the day with a cable car ride into the mountains adjacent to Ben Nevis for a birds-eye view of Fort William and its lochs.
Day 5
Today we enjoy a ride on the West Highland Line. From our base in Fort William, we take a journey on the most scenic railway journey in Britain as it meanders through glens, along loch sides and over the breath-taking twenty one arched Glenfinnan Viaduct. We arrive into Mallaig where our coach awaits to board the ferry "Over the sea to Skye". Take in the rugged scenery of southern Skye, including the Cuillin Mountains before stopping for our included lunch. After lunch, we continue on Skye before heading over the bridge at Kyle, stopping at Famous Eilean Donan Castle, Scotland's second most photographed castle before returning to the hotel.
Day 6
This morning we depart Fort William and head to our overnight hotel in Carlisle.
Day 7
Today we retrace our steps back to South Wales.
