We head to Ipswich, one of the oldest towns in England, explore Constable Country, the idyllic landscape immortalized by painter John Constable. Ipswich

Today we’re off to Ipswich, a historic town on the banks of the River Orwell. Discover its rich maritime past along the lively waterfront, or take time to explore the fascinating exhibits at Ipswich Museum.

Constable Country

From our hotel, we travel to Dedham, where John Constable attended school. Nearby is 16th century Bridge Cottage, housing an exhibition of the life and work of this 17th century painter. The afternoon is spent on "The Sunshine Coast" with time in Clacton-on-Sea with its large sandy beach, pier and seafront walks and then to nearby Walton on the Naze, surrounded on three sides by the sea and is home to the second longest pier in the country.

Bury St Edmunds

This morning we have some free time in historic Bury St Edmunds, where on Wednesday there is an open-air market in the town square. Why not take time to visit the ancient Abbey dating back to the Magna Carta? Later we continue onto Lavenham - considered to be the UK's best preserved medieval villages, dating back to Saxon times. The main street was filmed in scenes of Harry Potter's Deathly Hollows. We then return via the ancient market town of Sudbury, home to one of England's best known artists Robert Gainsborough
